Polybutylene Terephthalate
Manufacturer: Nanya Plastic Co., Ltd
PBT (Poly butylene terephthalate) engineering plastics is one of the engineering plastic series produced by South Asia Plastic Industry Co., Ltd., which is polymerized with 1.4 butylene glycol (1.4-BG) and terephthalic acid (PTA) or terephthalate (DMT) ,and through the mixing process to obtain superior mechanical, high rigidity, dimensional stability, heat aging resistance and chemical properties, but also because of its good processability, colorability, friction resistance and electrical properties, so in the information, electronics, electrical and automotive industry should have a rapid growth in the application, South Asia PBT engineering plastics can provide the above uses required for various grades of products, such as general grade, reinforced grade, flame resistance, and special grade.
South Asian PBT engineering plastic characteristics:
1. Good heat resistance, UL long-term heat resistance temperature 140 °C, thermal denaturation temperature 58 °C/210 °C. Due to a variety of different use conditions and environments, there will be different effects on physical properties, and the relationship between physical properties of South Asian PBT to temperature, heat aging resistance, weather resistance, etc. are described as follows:
◆physic properties with temperature relationship
The representative specifications 1111FB, 1210G6, 1403G6 tensile strength, flexural elasticity, IZOD impact strength and temperature are listed as shown in Figure 1~3.
◆Resistant to heat aging
The tensile strength test results of heat aging resistance of the representative specifications of South Asia PBT 1210G6 and 1111FB at 120°C and 140°C are shown in Figures 4 and 5. The excellent properties can be shown in the figure. Figure 6 shows the change in the time required for tensile strength to decay by 50% and the reciprocal temperature.
2.Weatherability and chemical resistance
◆Weather resistance
For plastics, weather resistance is an important consideration, and this test method is carried out by both weathering testing machine and outdoor exposure. South Asia PBT representative specifications 1111FB, 1210G6 and 1403G6, the test results are shown in Figures 7 and 8, the tensile strength of non-reinforced grade 1111FB is slightly affected, but its elongation is greatly reduced. The changes in tensile strength and elongation of glass fiber reinforced grades 1210G6 and 1403G6 are smaller than those of non-reinforced specifications.
◆Chemical resistance
In terms of application, plastics are very likely to be exposed to many chemicals in different use environments, and Table 2 provides data that can be used for reference when the application is developed. In general, polyester resins are resistant to solvents based on their chemical structure, but their resistance to alkaline solvents is very poor, which can be seen in Table 2.

3. Excellent electrical characteristics
PBT has excellent electrical and heat resistance, which can be seen from Figures 9 and 10, and the relationship between the strength of insulation failure and the natural impedance of volume on temperature can be seen. The UL specification values are shown in Table 1 for reference.
4. It can meet UL94 V-0 flame resistance specifications (please refer to Table 1)
5. Fast crystallization speed, excellent formability, good fluidity, can be made of thin-walled finished products. The liquidity of South Asian PBT representative specifications is shown in Figures 19 and 20.
6. Good surface gloss and good colorability.
7. Low water absorption and good dimensional stability.
