UL Test Names and Specifications

UL Card

UL Card Testing Method& Content Discription

  1. UL registration number
  2. Name and address of the company applying for UL certification
  3. Specifications of plastic materials, polymer types, basic physical properties, and product names for UL certification.
  4. Color:The material certifies the color description (when red, white, natural color, and black pass the UL test together, "All color” will be given.
  5. Min Thk:Min Thk: Minimum certified thickness of the material (maximum thickness not exceeding 13mm)
  6. Flame Class:UL94 flame resistance rating, divided into 5V (A/B), VO, V1, V2, HB
  7. HWI:Hot Wire lgnition (UL746A42 (ASTM D3874) test, the time (seconds) required for the test piece to be wrapped in a resistance coil and applied electrical energy to make the test piece catch fire.
  8. HAI:High Current Arc Ignition Test, according to UL746A43 test, the test piece is applied to a high current in a standard test way to cause the surface of the test piece to catch fire, and the test piece is damaged by the arc and ignites.
★RTI:Relative Temperature Index, according to UL746B testing, the material after a long time (60,000 hours, 6.8 years) test, its physical properties are reduced to half the maximum temperature that can be withstanded. UL usually compares the physical properties of standards for about 2000 hours to make a relative temperature (about 1 year to apply).
  9. RTI Elec::Relative temperature measured according to ASTM D149 (Dielectric Failure Strength). (IEC60243-1)
  10. RTI Imp:Relative temperature or Charpy punch strength (ISO 147) measured according to ASTM D1822 (tensile punch strength) or ASTM D256 (IZOD punch strength).
  11. RTI Str:Relative temperature measured according to ASTM D638 (Tensile Drop Strength). (ISO 527-2)
  12. CTI:Comparative Tracking Index or Comparative Tracking Index, electronic devices often due to insulation materials in different environmental and surface conditions, due to electrical carbonization caused by poor products. The CTI test method is to test the track resistance of the material in a short period of time in a water pollution environment (up to 900V) or compare the carbonization index (CTI).According to the ASTM D3638 standard, 50 drops of ammonium chloride (ammoniumchloride solution) with a concentration of 0.1% are dropped between the two electrodes on the test piece, and the voltage (V) required for the carbonization of the material is determined by whether the surface of the material reaches the trace of electrical conduction.
  13. IPT:Inclined Plane Tracking, similar to the CTI test, but tested at a high volt voltage.
  14. Dielectric Strength (KV/mm):Dielectric strength, which is the number at which breakdown occurs per unit of thickness increases the voltage at a fixed rate.
  15. Volume Resistivity (10 ohm-cm):Volume resistivity test of materials.
  16. HVTR:High Voltage Arc Tracking Rate, according to UL746A44 test, usually with a thickness of 3mm test piece with high voltage arc test piece surface conductive ignition rate (mm/min).。
  17. High Volt, Low Current Arc Resis (D495):Arc resistance test, according to ASTM D495, test specimen (3mm) applied high arc to cause a conductive path on the surface (in seconds).
  18. Dimensional Stability(%):Evaluation of the dimensional stability of a material.
  19. Other UL certifications for this material specification, such as: (f1) is a weathering test certification, please refer to this text for details.
  20. GWFI:Glow-Wire Flammability, which is one of the combustion index tests specified by the IEC.
  21. GWIT:Glow-Wire Ignition (Glow-Wire Ignition), one of the combustion index tests specified by the IEC.
  22. For other physical property test values, please refer to the physical property information of each material specification provided by the original factory.
